welcome.
the details.
Clipshow is a gag-a-day comic in an era of unprecedented times: the COVID era. We follow the routine of Alex and his smartmouthed sub-conscience, Charlie, as they wander through a world put on pause for however long it could go on. Is it satire? Sometimes. Is it COVID-compliant? Probably.
New episodes come out on weekdays, but a start date will be revealed as soon as I figure out this whole "webcomic" thing.
the story.
We follow the story of young Alex Barnaby, a neurotic dork who could've went smooth sailing with his second semester in 10th grade. Then this curious thing called COVID-19 turns his whole world upside down and changes the tides of history forever. That's where Charlie comes in, a smug little prick who acts as Alex's sub-conscience. Nobody know what they're supposed to be, and I bet they don't care enough to know either.
Together, they ride through the weirdest years of their lives. How will they survive such an outbreak? Where will they go from here? Are we the virus? For more info, visit CDC.gov to stay up-to-date on the ongoing pandemic. Or maybe the news? I dunno, I just like getting info.
the author.
Hi! My name's Stavros, and I'm responsible for this nonsense you're looking at here. When I'm not slumping on the couch watching reruns of cartoons that nobody likes, I'm also easily distracted by shiny objects and jingling keys. But other than that, I've been making stupid little cartoons for the better half of my life, including this one!
Clipshow has always been something that's been at the back of my mind for years on end, and it's sites like Neocities that really get me closer to finding my footing with it.
I've had way too many ideas for this series, some of which are beyond my own comprehension because of how stupid amazing they are. I tend to excite myself a little too much, and then I forget that I have to actually draw them out as a result.
the justification.
It feels wrong to reminisce on the pandemic era, especially considering that it practically stunted the growth of our entire world. I suppose now that things have (hopefully) settled down, I feel that there's been enough time to actually look back on our lives in 2020 and beyond that point. But the thing about it is that in terms of media representation, I've only ever seen the perspective of all the adults in this era rather than the younger generation. To me, it's as if a lot of them talk about this era as if they've dealt with it before.
I was 15 when this started, and I can easily tell you that I am not the same person as I was before. That's the purpose of this series. I want to shine a light on the pandemic era by putting it through the lens of someone who's never seen anything like it. It may not be the most poignant depiction I'll ever make, but it's the most personal.
What you're reading is the story of a stupid kid who shares some of the same experiences as mine, and perhaps yours as well. You may not have experienced everything he's going through. But I hope you can understand where he's coming from.
the necessities.
After reading this on your gross device with crumbs all over it, be sure to wash your hands for a good 20 seconds. But just to be safer, follow @STOOVRS on social media. I don't think there's any good COVID resources on there, but hey! Better that than reading something too weird.
